The School Day
At Meadow School, we provide a structured, supportive and nurturing school environment designed to help learners feel safe, settled and ready to learn.
The school day begins with supported arrivals from transport and breakfast provision between 8:50am and 9:00am. Formal lessons begin at 9:10am and the school day finishes at 3:00pm, followed by supported transport arrangements home.
Learners access a broad and balanced timetable which includes Mathematics, English, Science, ICT, History, Geography, PSHE, Physical Education, Games and Social Skills Development. Lessons are delivered in small class groups, typically ranging from six to eight learners, allowing staff to provide personalised support and build positive relationships with each learner.
Our experienced staff team deliver targeted interventions in core subjects such as English and Mathematics to support individual progress and confidence in learning. Teaching approaches are adapted to meet the needs of learners and ensure they are able to access learning in a way that works best for them.
Alongside academic learning, learners may also access therapeutic and pastoral support throughout the school day. This can include sessions with trained therapeutic professionals, creative therapeutic activities and opportunities to work alongside our therapy dog. Pastoral support is embedded across the curriculum and delivered through whole-class activities, small group work and individual sessions according to each learner’s needs.
Breaktimes and lunchtimes are carefully structured and supervised to support positive social interaction, emotional regulation and independence. Learners are encouraged to take part in lunchtime clubs and enrichment activities, providing opportunities to explore interests, build friendships and socialise with peers from across the school. Unstructured times are viewed as valuable opportunities for developing communication, social understanding and life skills.
Our School Day
A typical day in our school looks like this:

Food at Meadow School
Meadow School provides meals and snacks throughout the school day to ensure learners have access to healthy, nutritious food in a supportive environment.
Learners are offered breakfast upon arrival at school, a choice of lunch options and snacks during the day where required. Meals are freshly prepared on site and designed to support healthy eating and positive wellbeing.
Lunch options typically include a hot meal choice alongside alternatives such as jacket potatoes with a variety of fillings, sandwiches, wraps and toasties. To encourage independence and decision-making, learners are supported to select their meals using written and visual menus tailored to individual communication needs.
Fresh drinking water is available throughout the day via on-site water facilities, encouraging learners to remain hydrated and develop healthy daily habits.
Uniform
At Meadow School, learners are encouraged to wear comfortable, practical and appropriate clothing that supports both learning and wellbeing throughout the school day.
Suitable clothing may include black or grey joggers, trousers, knee-length shorts or skirts. The school provides learners with a white polo shirt and a navy-blue hoodie as part of the school uniform.
Learners may wear trainers or other suitable flat footwear appropriate for school activities and outdoor learning.
A school PE kit is also provided and includes a green polo shirt alongside a green zipped sports jacket for use during sports and physical education activities.
